Volunteers partner with an athlete to help get them past any sensitivity issue with the sensory input of getting in the water. We make sure that the swimmers keep their heads above water, connect with the coach (Coach Joey) in a fun activity and stay safe while in the water.
The pool is stocked with inflatable shimshams and doohickeys. In addition, we encourage athletes that can swim to do a few laps.
Session starts with a little orientation at 11:30, the kids arrive at 11:45 and it finishes at 12:45. The pool provides a locker room and lifeguard, all you need is a towel.
If people are hungry afterwards, we can meetup outside the pool afterwards and grab some lunch in the neighborhood.
There's street parking in the area, but remember it's North Beach so parking can be difficult. Sundays are better and I've been able to find parking within a few blocks of the pool.
So that everybody has a safe and fun time in the pool, we'd like to ask:
• that girls wear a t-shirt over your swimsuit
• always keep your athlete to the front of you
• arrive early to park
• bring your suit & towel
• & have fun!!
