Make Dinner at Ronald McDonald House - 6 Volunteers

We will provide, cook, and serve a meal to low-income families of children with life-threatening illnesses living in Ronald McDonald House. (SF: Western Addition)

Schedule

6:00-7:00pm: Volunteers prepare a meal for 20-25 people.

7:00pm: Serve dinner and eat with some of the staff and residents of the Ronald McDonald House. Sometimes only a few residents can join us for dinner. We always make plenty for leftovers so families can eat whenever they return from the hospital.

7:40-8:00 pm: Clean up, pack up left-overs.

What is the Ronald McDonald House?

San Francisco is home to several well-known childrens' hospitals-- UCSF, Kaiser, and CPMC-- that attract patients from as far as Oregon and Las Vegas. Because hotels are so expensive, the families of the patients (usually pre-term babies) often sleep in their cars or hospital chairs. Ronald McDonald House SF provides an alternative-- a temporary home with ten rooms in the Western Addition-- where families can stay and socialize with others families in similar situations and volunteers.

Take the Duboce Ave/Mission St. exit towards Golden Gate Bridge.
Turn right on US 101 North.

From East:

Take the 9th St./Civic Center exit.
Follow 9th St. and get in the lane marked “Hayes”
Bear left on Hayes St. after crossing Market St.

After crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, follow Lombard Ave.
