Real Life Experiences Building and Deploying a Windows Azure Solution

Details
While we've had a number of meetings this year focused on Azure, there is still much to be examined and discussed regarding the developer experience of building and hosting on the Azure Cloud. In this presentation, Peter Kellner will walk us through the process he went through to build and deploy a brand new commercial application using Windows Azure, and will discuss both the benefits and challenges he experienced. While Peter will touch on various architectural approaches, the primary focus will be on the nuts and bolts of working with Windows Azure, an awesome undertaking by Microsoft.
Unlike a recent talk given at this same facility to the Azure Meetup group, this talk will be demonstration heavy with what it really takes to deploy, how hard it is to do development, and what is really happening with dropped connections. He'll also share his perspective on the comparison of SqlAzure with Sql Server.
After this session, you’ll have a much better idea of what you can (and maybe can not do) with Microsoft Windows Azure.
Peter Kellner, a Microsoft ASP.NET MVP since 2007, is founder and president of ConnectionRoad, and a seasoned software professional specializing in high quality, scalable and extensible .Net web applications. His experience includes building and leading engineering teams both on and off shore. When not working, Peter spends most his free time biking. He has ridden his bike across the globe. Most recently he and his wife, Tammy, rode across the U.S., from California to Georgia, in just 27 days.
