Key to the ECK teachings is the presence of a spiritual guide, who can work with individuals outwardly as the Living ECK Master, by providing spiritual guidance through books and talks, and inwardly through dreams, inner guidance, Soul Travel and one's contemplation. In Eckankar, we know this inner guide as the Mahanta.

• What is the Blue Blessing?

This blue light often appears during contemplation. It tells of the presence of the MAHANTA. The Blue Light comes to render a blessing, give consolation to the heart, assurance to the spirit, and healing to the body.

In Eckankar, the Mahanta, sometimes seen as a Blue Light or Blue Star, is the expression of the Spirit of God that is always with you. The Living Eck Master is the Divine Spirit personified—a living embodiment of all that is spiritual.

Together they form the Living Word that has always been present throughout time. Although the face of the Living ECK Master changes, the Mahanta is ever present in Its expression as the Living ECK Master.
