What we’re about
Welcome to the group!
The South Sound Stoics is a forum where individuals from the south Puget Sound area can discuss aspects of Stoic philosophy and practice, as well as make plans to meet up regularly. (Those outside of south Puget Sound are also welcome, of course.)

See all- BYOQ & DEEP WORKWheelock Student Center, Tacoma, WA
BYOQ - Bring your own quote! - Bring a Stoic quote or passage that has been speaking to you recently. Bonus points if you can connect it to one of your own principles.
Deep Work - We'll review the three disciplines by way of crafting our own language and highlighting our specific experiences through each of them, including our own principles, roles, and biases. (The first tab is a blank copy of the Deep Work chart that we're going through during the meetings. The second tab is an outline of various elements that correspond to the three disciplines.)
We will meet at the Wheelock Student Center at the University of Puget Sound. The map pin for this event is exactly where I'm suggesting, but feel free to call or text me for further directions! 713-870-1871
------------------------------------------------
South Sound Stoics meetings will emphasize applied practice, focusing on the practical application of Stoicism. We’ll go over specific actions that we can take to improve our lives, while exploring ancient and modern texts on Stoicism and philosophy as a way of life.
There are three primary disciplines that Stoic practices flow from: Desire, Action, and Judgment. These disciplines are connected with other three-part divisions. Using the set of three's is a helpful way to understand, discuss, and most importantly, practice Stoic philosophy.
As always, everyone is welcome and all sharing is appreciated, regardless of your knowledge or practice with Stoicism or any spirituality or philosophy of life.
Don't worry if you come into a series or book having not read any of the previous readings. You can come to any meeting and still learn something, as well as add to the discussion!
