The STEM Sessions Meetup #3: California Biodiversity Week

Details
September 7 marks the beginning of California Biodiversity Week, so let's have an open discussion sharing our experiences with that Biodiversity.
I'll read a few excerpts from my field journal, and show the contents of my amateur naturalist tool kit. If there's interest, I can provide a quick overview of field journaling, too.
But I want this to be a group discussion, so bring your own stories and photos. If you're a birder, what's the rarest species you've observed? If you're a hiker, what critters have you come across? If you're a local park-goer, what trees and plants have you identified?
Our backyard is wonderfully diverse from butterflies to bees to lizards to birds to oaks to pines... let's talk about it all!
I'd also like to poll the group about future outings like nature and geology hikes, museum trips, etc.
For those new to this group, The STEM Sessions was created as a forum for people interested in and/or working in STEM to share their experiences, expertise, and learn from each other. I do my best to get the party started, but it's maintained by everyone's participation.
So join us. Have some food, have some beverages, and let's learn from each other.
