About us

The Strings Attached Theater Collective is for anyone curious about marionette theater—whether you're a complete beginner or you've dabbled in puppet work before. We get together to explore the fundamentals of building and performing with marionettes. This includes learning about basic construction techniques, string control, rigging, and how to bring these wooden characters to life on stage. If you've ever wondered how marionettes actually work or wanted to try your hand at puppet performance, this is the place.

We keep things pretty informal and hands-on. Some meetings we'll focus on the technical side—building your first marionette or fixing tangled strings. Other times we'll workshop movement and performance, learning how different rigging setups create different effects and character personalities. You'll work alongside other people who range from artists and theater folks to hobbyists who just think marionettes are cool. No experience necessary, just bring curiosity and patience with yourself as you're learning.

We're building a little community around a craft that doesn't get much attention these days, and we think that's worth changing. If you've got questions, want to share what you're working on, or just want to hang out with people who get excited about strings and wood and the strange magic of puppet theater, come join us.
