Join this guided walk exploring the hidden history of women who lived, studied, wrote and protested in Clifton. Expect surprising, powerful stories — from early women students and suffragists to writers and one unforgettable moment at the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

A relaxed, storytelling-led walk for curious locals — not a history lecture. Ideal if you enjoy exploring the city and meeting like-minded people along the way.

We’ll finish at the White Lion pub terrace, overlooking the Avon Gorge and the Clifton Suspension Bridge, with time to stay for a drink and conversation if people wish.

We all know that walking into a busy pub social where everyone already seems to know each other can be… rough. It’s awkward, it’s tiring, and you can easily spend the whole evening hovering on the edge of groups trying to figure out where to jump in.

This event is the cure for all of that.

It’s fun, relaxed, a little bit silly in the best way — and built to do one thing: help you skip the small talk and actually meet new, interesting people without any of the usual awkwardness.

How It Works

First things first: this is not speed dating.
No pressure, no weird vibes, no ticking clocks. Just a friendly, platonic way to meet people who are also looking to make new connections.

Arrive & Settle (7:00 PM)
Come grab a drink, say hi, and get comfy. Nothing intense. The “friending” part kicks off properly at 7:30 PM.

The Friending Bit (7:30 PM)
We’ll have tables ready to go. You’ll rotate in pairs or small groups for quick 5–7 minute chats — just enough time to get a feel for someone without any awkward lingering.

Zero Awkward Silences
This is not a job interview. Every table will have fun prompts to spark conversation — things like:
• “What’s a guilty pleasure you’ll defend to the death?”
• “If you could only eat at one Bristol restaurant for a year, which one are you choosing?”
Fun, easy, and guaranteed to get people talking.

Mingle Time (Around 8:45 PM)
Once the structured bit wraps up, it flows into a chilled social. Grab another drink, wander around, and carry on chatting with the people you vibed with the most. This is the time to make plans with anyone you'd like to hang out with again.
