Join Randy for a hike along the beautiful trails at Castle Rock in Walnut Creek. This hike will be 6 miles with about 700ft elevation gain. Castle Rock's Fairy Lantern Trail is the prime location for finding the Mt. Diablo Fairy Lantern Lily, found nowhere else in the world! We should also find it's beautiful cousin, the Mariposa Lily. A little rain is predicted over the weekend, so we may encounter some mud, and we will adjust the hike route as necessary. We will stop for lunch at the Castle Rock picnic area on the way back to our cars. NO DOGS on this hike. The trail has four stream crossings, so poles are HIGHLY recommended for this hike. There is a restroom near the hike starting point. In the event of significant rain Monday morning, check this MeetUp Posting's comments section for confirmation that the hike is proceeding.

We will hike at an average to slower pace (25-30 mins per mile) so we can enjoy the experience while we get the heart pumping. Please update your RSVP if you cannot attend, so as many people as possible can enjoy this hike.
