DIALECTIC READING: Jürgen Habermas—An Intellectual Biography

Details
This event has been rescheduled from Sun, 2 Apr.
We will be meeting at 4 pm Eastern/1 pm Pacific, Sun. 16 Apr.
Join us as we continue our discussion of the intellectual biography of Jürgen Habermas. (Link to text below.)
We will be picking up on page 8 with the paragraph beginning:
"Habermas’s examination of critical theory has occurred in an entirely dialectical spirit", and reading to the the top of p. 16.
Widely considered to be one of the greatest living philosophers in the world today, Habermas has long been a leading figure in the fields of sociology and political theory, and is often associated with the Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School, where he got his start in the 1950s.
Habermas is now in his 90s, but we should not be fooled by his longevity, because his most recent book—Also a History of Philosophy—is also his longest, totaling more than 1,700 pages.
Not yet available in English, we will be reading a preview chapter of the book, with the intellectual biography serving as an introduction to Habermas' life and thought.
You can download a pdf copy of the biography (22 pages) using the link below:
