What we’re about

The Unspoken Questions is a reading group for people willing to engage serious and perhaps uncomfortable ideas about group identity, cultural difference, and the future of belonging in the United States.

We’re not here to agree. We’re here to read clearly and think honestly.

Each book we read offers a distinct perspective on what’s happening in this country and what justice or cohesion might look like going forward. Some of these perspectives are widely accepted; others are often ignored or avoided. But all of them raise questions that are rarely answered honestly—and often not even asked.

You’re not expected to agree with everything—or anything. But the standard of the group is to engage every viewpoint as something that might contain part of the truth—even when it feels unfamiliar or uncomfortable.
