The UpCylers: fixing donated bikes for those in need

Join us at The Bike Hub, Dun Laoghaire Thursday nights to become a bicycle UpCycler extraordinaire that directly helps their community!

The bikes you work on are donated to the community. The skills you build will help you take better care of your bike (and your friends and family’s bikes too!)

Who it's for:

Anyone who wants to help out their community by creating more cyclists! Also helpful if you like tinkering. No experience needed at all.

What to bring:

Layered clothing - temperatures vary in our heated but open air workshop.
Comfy Shoes - we'll be on our feet.
Snacks/water - we have some facilities but it's great to bring your own mugs!

How it works:

1. Get an orientation on the shop, where tools are, how we match bikes to recipients, and how we set up for the day.
2. Grab a bike and put it on the stand! Learn how we assess newly donated bikes for repair and what the parts of the bike are called.
3. Tinker! If you're experienced, great, you could probably jump right in on fixing what's broken. If you're not, we got you covered! We'll teach you the basics and make sure you're doing things right.
4. Clean up for the day

Who it's for:
Anyone who wants to help out their community by creating more cyclists! You just need to be curious about bikes, you do not need to know anything about mechanics! (sure I didn't have any before I joined and now I'm hosting these meetups!)
This is also a good meetup if you want to help us find donated bikes, recipient organizations, or general logistics of delivery. You can help without touching a single bike if that's your speed!

What to bring:
Clothes you do not mind getting dirty
