Every first Sunday of the month, Ronald Green hosts a discussion attended by people from many countries. We discuss a range of philosophical issues that may include history, science, art, psychology, sociology, and more. The mix of international attendees and ideas from various countries makes for lively (and sometimes controversial) discussions.
The meetings are for the curious open to new ideas and willing to share. And also for those who just want to listen.
This time we will discuss something so much taken for granted, that we accept it as real without even blinking: Common knowledge*.* Yet, as soon as do think about it, we hit obstacles.
What is Common Knowledge and can it ever be reached? What we are asking, in fact, is whether common knowledge is a viable philosophical notion, an objective summary of generally accepted knowledge.
And here is the rub. What is generally accepted knowledge? In fact, what is knowledge? Are we what we know? Does what we know shape who we are? Or do we shape what we can know?
Very much looking forward to having you joining us.
