About us
The Weird Girl Book Club is an English-language reading group for anyone drawn to complicated characters, messy inner lives, and unconventional fiction. Weird Girl Lit is a tongue-in-cheek internet label for a loose literary tradition concerned with women’s interior lives, social expectations, desire, alienation, and all the contradictions that come with being a person. The label is unserious; the books don’t have to be. We’ll read across generations and genres—from Virginia Woolf, Shirley Jackson, Clarice Lispector to Sayaka Murata, Ottessa Moshfegh, Jen Beagin and Eliza Clark—and probably argue about what belongs under the label in the first place. You don’t have to be a girl (or weird) to join. Come if you like interesting books, thoughtful conversation, and reading outside your usual shelf.
