Zürich Hash House Harriers (ZH3)

This week's awesome Hare is HMHW The Hare will add details soon.

Where:
Check the location, if not announced, typically within Zurich 110 or adjacent zones. Look for English speakers wearing running gear.

When:
We'll meet at 6:50 pm to start at 7:00 pm.

There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards.

All Welcome:
If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know:
• Physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humor is useful.
• The aim is to find the 'Beer Stop' at the end of the 'trail' and have fun.
• 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running) and some over-achieving fast runners will go further.
• The 'Hare', which changes each event, cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
• There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change.
• After Trail, we group for ~30-45 minutes for drinks, snacks and some fun. This 'Circle' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark).

Why bother leaving your warm sofa?
If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing.

'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (Hashs) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - or you can just come along and find out. See you there.

We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups.

• The pace within the group varies from dead-slow movers (we call them DFLs) to over-achieving fast runners (we call them FRBs)
• The "hare" cleverly lays the trail so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
• If you are a slow runner, you will clock around 7kms.
• If you are a quick runner you will clock around 10kms.
• If you are a walker you will be dedicated to the cause, ignore trail and take the shortest route possible to get to the beer.
• There is always a place to deposit your bag and often a place to change.
• There is a charge of CHF5 for participating (and includes beer and snacks).
• If you like fun, drinking and doing something a bit different you will probably enjoy hashing. Humourless people need not apply.

Where:
Hare's hutch in Hüntwangen. From Zürich take the S9 towards Schaffhausen / Rafz at 13:07, Hardbrücke 13:09, Oerlikon 13:15. Change at Hüntwangen-Wil to the 545 bus, take it 1 stop to Hüntwangen Dorf.
Look for English speakers wearing running gear.

When:
We'll meet at 13:50 pm to start at 14:00 pm.

What:
Long to very long trail(s) with short cuts for walkers. Expect lots of mud, if there has been some rain recently.
The annual Muddy Angel run is on the same day. The gravel pits of Hüntwangen are turned into a muddy obstacle course for women. https://www.muddyangelrun.com/events/zuerich-2025/.

Feel free to do Muddy Angel in the morning then clean up for the hash.
Bag drop and on after at the hare's house. Drop your bags at the house before Muddy Angel if you like.

Who will be crowded GHOAT (Greatest Hare Of All Time)?

In the red corner, we have, weighing in with 20 lbs of flour, Saddam, our reigning and defending champion with 87 trails. He once took a 6-hour-old baby to a hash circle and laid a 25 km trail one Saturday.

"I was haring when you pups were still at your mothers' tits. I am the GHOAT."

In the blue corner, we have, weighing in with one greasy finger, Slippery Digit, our challenger with 84 trails. Organizer of numerous amazing hash events, World Peace through beers, and a wet weather extraordinaire.

"I have hared 3 or more hashes for 10 years non-stop. I eat 69 carrots for breakfast. I love the rain and am without a doubt the GHOAT."
