Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 is a sung-through, electropop opera by Dave Malloy, adapted from a 70-page section of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, focusing on the romance between Natasha Rostova and Anatole Kuragin, and the existential crisis of Pierre Bezukhov. The show, originally directed by Rachel Chavkin, premiered Off-Broadway in 2012 and had a successful Broadway run from 2016-2017, known for its unique staging, folk-inspired score, and immersive, tavern-like atmosphere.
