Thirty years ago, a medical doctor in India, Dr Madan Kataria, created Laughter Yoga, a process of guided breathing exercises combined with simple, easy movements, to liberate laughter. You don’t need to feel happy to benefit from the release of endorphins that accompany the exercises. The body doesn't know the difference between fake and real laughter. All the benefits are the same. This is laughter not as comedy but as a practice.
Laughter is an essential tool in building confidence, removing cynicism and increasing enthusiasm. Not only that, it is great for your health, increasing oxygen levels, improving circulation, strengthening the immune system, and improving brain activity. It also dramatically reduces stress by naturally releasing endorphins.
'All You Need Is Laugh’ is a gentle, easy workshop suitable for everyone. You don’t have to feel jolly to do it – the exercises release endorphins anyway and give an immediate lift to the spirits.
de Castro trained as a Laughter Yoga Leader with Dr Kataria in India in 2008 and leads Laughter Yoga sessions in the UK.
The only yoga required is breathing!
