SEED HUNTERS
Written by Carol Dance
Directed by Melissa Paris
A wise matriarch and determined young women battle the world's toxic men! A contemporary, clever and controversial comedy with a satirical edge. What if the key to peace … is in our DNA.
The play opens in 1976 in Peking. The country is opening to the world, post-Mao, and students from around the world have been invited by the Chinese government. An idealistic clutch of these international students hold secret meetings. A beautiful South American woman attempts to seduce young Aussie Bob, and he discovers the ‘seed hunters’ movement –women who believe the science-based reasoning that the children of men with mixed-ancestry are less aggressive, fitter and more intelligent than men with ‘pure’ heritage. Will he escape her seductive dancing?
Then in 2025 Sydney, Bridget joins the seed-hunter movement. She researches women’s groups in ancient Greece, the Hopi Indians in Arizona and all the other women studying men to find just the right one. Bridget targets her man. Does he escape her entreaties? Does he know her intent?
