In an underground refuge, Shakespeare’s wronged women lie in waiting, hidden from the world above and tending to wounds inflicted by man. Only when it is deemed safe will they return to the land of the living. Hermione has waited sixteen years. Hero hopes her stay won't be quite as long. Helena has different plans altogether.
Part critique, part love letter to the Bard, Harlots is a modern reimagining of Shakespeare's women, centring their stories and voices while confronting the cycle of violence that continues to echo more than 400 years later.
