Swing dance class & social

Whitworth Locke, Civic Quarter

£8.00

This Tuesday, learn swing dance, and meet new people, as the Buddy Club descends on this weekly beginners class and social evening.

No experience needed, no partner needed. You meet everybody during the class, as couples are rotated. The culture in swing dance, is that everybody asks each other to dance, so you also meet people on the social dance floor. Like speed dating, but without the weirdness and awkward conversation!

Note, that Buddy Club have kindly waived membership requirements for this weekly listing, so you just pay £8 on arrival at our bar. No booking required. We won't be collecting Buddy Club membership fees either.

Queen bees *Walking tour*

Alan Turing Memorial

£3.00

**Please note - this is not a private tour and so there will be both genders present due to members of the public being present; however, our little group on the walk will be women only**

Fancy working up an appetite? Perhaps you're going to the meetup following this event, or would like to meet people? Or go and do your own thing after this?

These walks are free and take place every day, meeting at the Alan Turing memorial and are tipped based only. I have been promising a walk for a while and whilst there will be others (general public) who are also attending the walk, it is nice to feel reassured that you will be met by a reassuring host (me!) who (if you are attending) will happily escort you to the next venue which on this occasion is Mackie Mayor where we will meet others and have something to eat/drink. Information on the content of the tour is available here: About the Tour — Free Manchester Walking Tours

We aim to provide a regular event for women of all different age groups and interests, backgrounds and walks of life to get together and have a good ol' chin wag and put the world to rights whilst making some new friends. This particular event will be mixed gender owing to it being a public event, but our own little group will be women only.

This is a hopeful attempt to bring women together to chat, laugh and to perk up those Sundays where you're pondering what to do and when and where you can make some connections with other women when other events are rammed.

There's no upper or lower age limit. Please note that all new members are required to pay a yearly membership fee of £3.00 (for the year - joining fee) AT THE EVENT IF NOT BEFORE. If before, please mention in the notes for PayPal what the event is, and your meet-up name. If bringing a guest, you'll be asked to pay an additional £2 per event for each guest and please change your RSVP if you can't attend or you may find yourself removed from the group, sadly :(

Any questions? Fire away via DM 👍🏻 Details of where we will meet in the venue will be available on the day in the comments :)

Queen bees *Women only* Make new friends/Meet new people!

Mackie Mayor

£3.00

Firstly, please let me apologise for the lengthy delay in holding another of these events. I have been very unwell and am still up and down but hoping that I am on the road to recovery.

I've gone back to Mackie Mayors for this event as it's central, near to the train station (Victoria) and has a good variety of food options, including allergy aware and vegan. As you who know me are aware, I have a dog that goes with me everywhere, so it's dog friendly too :D

If you come, you don't have to swap numbers, just meet new people that you'll hopefully see again, and I've been there - chatting to strangers can be a bit nerve-wracking. Halfway through, I will likely ask people to swap places so that we get to meet each other to have a chat :)

We aim to provide a regular event for women of all different age groups and interests, backgrounds and walks of life to get together and have a good ol' chin wag and put the world to rights whilst enjoying some (cheap! I am all about the cheap!) food, drinks if you fancy, and sharing some company, empathy, and having a few laughs whilst making some new friends. These events are 'drop in' so there's no specific time that you have to arrive for and it is a safe, non-judgemental environment. It's always nerve wracking meeting new people for the first time - I know that I have felt nervous - I hope that this is your first step to getting out and eventually making some new friends :)

This is a hopeful attempt to bring women together to chat, laugh and to perk up those Sundays where you're pondering what to do and when and where you can make some connections with other women when other events are rammed and you just wanna hang out and come and go when you feel like it 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • There's no upper or lower age limit. I try to find venues which are dog friendly and vegan friendly, so please do come along with the pooch.

Mackie Mayor is about a 15 min walk from Victoria Train Station and around 10 mins from Shudehill Tram Stop. If you're looking for directions from Vic, then walk straight up from Vic station to Shudehill Tram stop, slight left and head towards the Crown Hotel. Turn right there and Mackie Mayor is an old stone building on the right.

Any questions? Fire away via DM 👍🏻 Details of where we will meet in the venue will be available on the day in the comments :)
