About us
We are a tradition of Witchcraft based in the DC/NOVA/MD area. We put on public rituals for many of the sabbats as well as a number of classes on various Wiccan and Witchcraft-related topics. We are also a Wiccan tradition that people can participate in casually, or through the deeper path of initiation. All respectful individuals are welcome!

February 2026 New Moon Esbat
·OnlineOnlineThe Firefly House invites you to join us for a (roughly) one hour New Moon esbat on Tuesday, February 17, at 8:00pm.
Our esbats move in patterns of three: two that focus on journey work, a form of guided meditation that includes open-ended questions so that each of us experiences something a little different and uniquely special. The third esbat in the pattern will be more experimental where we come up with something else to do that evening. It could be a bit of magic, maybe a prayer workshop, or even an open mic poetry reading! You never know what it could be! (Until we tell you.)
Because February does not contain a solstice, this will be one of our more traditional, meditative events.
Regardless, whether you're in the Washington DC area or you'll be joining us from far, far away, we hope to see you on the 17th!

Firefly House Dialogue on performance in ritual
·OnlineOnlineJoin the Firefly House in our monthly dialogue series. This time we're going to talk about performance in ritual. Whether it's elaborate costuming, decorations, or even set pieces or more simple actions like reading quarter calls with intention, ritual is supposed to be attention grabbing. We'll spend some time together thinking about what that means for each of us, how it impacts our religious and spiritual lives, and maybe even swap some stories about rituals, both good and bad, that we remember because of their performative qualities.
We'll start fairly promptly around 7:05pm Eastern time, but you can probably still join until about 7:10 or so. To begin, we'll do introductions and ground rules. Once we've got all of that out of the way, our dialogue will last until 8:30pm, but if we're having a great conversation and would like to continue, we may go a little late, but not by much.
For now, if you're free and interested, RSVP to save the date. When you do, you'll be asked to enter your email. Dash will use that to send out some jumpstart questions the morning of the dialogue. You can use them to get your thinking caps on, or ignore them if you prefer to be surprised as to the direction of our conversation.
Our dialogues are in a format that our host, Dash, learned from participating in and training from The Church Lab, a non-profit organization that innovates for the sake of nurturing hope, joy, faith, and peace while considering the future of faith practice, both within institutions and without them, in the 21st century. If you'd like to know more about TCL, Dash is very happy to share. (Full disclosure, they're the chairperson of the TCL board, so they're definitely biased 😆)

May 2026 Rite of Her Sacred Fires
·OnlineOnlineSince 2010, during the full moon in May, the Covenant of Hekate — "an international community of devotees who honor the Goddess Hekate, in all her many forms, by all her many faces and guises" — performs the Rite of Her Sacred Fires. All over the world, in around 30 languages, the Rite will be performed, and we'll be joining them. This year is the first time that there's two full moons in May, and an online poll determined that we'd all do this on the second one.
The English language version is the one that we'll use, and you can familiarize yourself with it here.
It's short, taking only a few minutes. We'll gather at 8:15pm and get started around 8:20 as the sun sets.
This rite is designed to be performed solo, but Dash will explain prior to getting started how you can contribute, too, in your space and place as we share this time together.
No experience with Hekate is necessary, simply a reverence for her history and her meaningful impact on the world of modern witchcraft and witchcraft-inflected Pagan traditions.
