About us
We are a tradition of Witchcraft based in the DC/NOVA/MD area. We put on public rituals for many of the sabbats as well as a number of classes on various Wiccan and Witchcraft-related topics. We are also a Wiccan tradition that people can participate in casually, or through the deeper path of initiation. All respectful individuals are welcome!

Firefly Foundations Class: How We Do Rituals
Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, 901 G St NW, Washington, DC, USSpring has spring, which means we're well on our way through the Firefly Foundations class series meant to provide students the opportunity to learn about the House and about our way of being Pagan.
For the third class of our seven-class series, we'll cover what we call our "core order" of ritual. If you've joined us for a holiday ceremony or other event already, you've probably seen some of this, but during the video we'll go over all the different steps, what they mean, and how we do them.
When you RSVP for this class, you'll be asked to provide an email address. We'll send you a link to the class video at that address as soon as possible after we receive it. We keep won't share your email with anyone ever. Watch the video before the class date and time, and come to class with any questions you might have. During the class session, we'll be going over anything from the video you wanted to review, and then for the remainder of the time, we'll probably practice a few of the ritual steps as examples for those that might not be familiar with them.
If you're comfortable with it, join us at the MLK Memorial Library in the Room 401-D to join the conversation in-person. Masks will be welcomed, but not provided, for in-person attendees. We will also have the necessary technology to allow folks to join in online via Google Meet if you prefer to attend remotely. Video conferencing information will be sent out the morning of the event. If you're connecting that way, please give us a few minutes past 3:30pm to get the stream online.
This class is a part of our foundations class series, which is only required if you wish to join the Firefly House as an initiate. If that does not interest you, then feel free to skip classes that you find less important for your journey. If you want to keep your options open with respect to initiation but cannot attend this session at the listed date and time, please contact the event host prior to the session. Keep in mind, you can only miss two of seven sessions in this way. Time spent with initiates of the House and your fellow classmates is an important part of knowing if you want to initiate. If you don't initiate, regardless of the reason, you're still welcome to all of the public events we organize.
If you would like to, feel free to join our Discord to chat with others in the Firefly House between sessions. This is also a great place to ask for help if you've lost a link to a video, for example.

April 2026 New Moon Esbat
·OnlineOnlineThe Firefly House invites you to join us for a (roughly) one hour New Moon esbat on Thursday, April 17, at 8:00pm.
Our esbats move in patterns of three: two that focus on journey work, a form of guided meditation that includes open-ended questions so that each of us experiences something a little different and uniquely special. The third esbat in the pattern will be more experimental where we come up with something else to do that evening. It could be a bit of magic, maybe a prayer workshop, or even an open mic poetry reading! You never know what it could be! (Until we tell you.)
Because April does not contain a solstice or equinox, this will be one of our more traditional, meditative events.
Regardless, whether you're in the Washington DC area or you'll be joining us from far, far away, we hope to see you on the 17th!

Firefly House Dialogue: Spirits of Place
·OnlineOnlineJoin the Firefly House in our monthly dialogue series.
For this dialogue, in conjunction with Earth Day, we're going to talk about spirits of place, especially of the land. Practically speaking, most of us probably agree that protecting the environment is necessary for human flourishing, but some of us might go further and see the environment, or perhaps the various ecological systems and niches with in it, as populated by spirits. We'll consider how we might interact with them, if we even think they exist, and how our views on them shape the religious, spiritual, and philosophical lens through which we see the world.
We'll start fairly promptly around 7:05pm Eastern time, but you can probably still join until about 7:10 or so. To begin, we'll do introductions and ground rules. Once we've got all of that out of the way, our dialogue will last until 8:30pm, but if we're having a great conversation and would like to continue, we may go a little late, but not by much.
For now, if you're free and interested, RSVP to save the date. When you do, you'll be asked to enter your email. Dash will use that to send out some jumpstart questions the morning of the dialogue. You can use them to get your thinking caps on, or ignore them if you prefer to be surprised as to the direction of our conversation.
Our dialogues are in a format that our host, Dash, learned from participating in and training from The Church Lab, a non-profit organization that innovates for the sake of nurturing hope, joy, faith, and peace while considering the future of faith practice, both within institutions and without them, in the 21st century. If you'd like to know more about TCL, Dash is very happy to share. (Full disclosure, they're the chairperson of the TCL board, so they're definitely biased 😆)
