What we’re about
👋 HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE HIDEOUT!
London’s hyper-active thriller, sci-fi, and horror film club — built by fans, for fans.
We’re a buzzing community of die-hard film lovers, indie filmmakers, comic geeks, and sci-fi dreamers who adore everything from Hitchcock to Kubrick, Carpenter to Cameron.
We meet regularly for screenings, share laughs over drinks, and rave (or rant) together on our Letterboxd Page. You’ll also find us hanging out at our BFI Riverfront socials — always a great time. We stay on top of film news, and members get to vote on what we watch next via our WhatsApp or Telegram groups (unlocked after your first meetup).
We’re all about supporting independent cinema — from The Film Festival Guild to the Prince Charles Cinema, the BFI, Medicinema, and more. That means we’ll often snag special perks and early access as part of our crew. From road trips to spooky festivals, pub quizzes to Riverfront hangouts, there’s always something fun in the mix.
Come hang out with a great crowd — we’d love to have you with us.

🐍🎬 ANACONDA 2025 (FILM & SOCIAL)
Leicester Square, Cranbourn Street, London, GB🌴 Picture this: Jack Black and his giant Anaconda slithers into the jungle and bumps into Jennifer Lopez's hot dog stand. She says, 'Hey, want a bite of my hot dog?' and his snake just hisses back saying, 'Sorry, we're on a strictly no-buns diet!
👋 Happy 2026 everyone, and let's keep that snake skin crawling! So this new film with Jack Black is basically a fun revival of that whole giant snake adventure genre that started in the 90s. It will be directed by Tom Gormican, and it's a meta-reboot that isn't just remaking the original Anaconda—it's a movie about the hilarity and chaos of making that remake. The scoop is that of course, it'll have Jack Black's signature tongue-in-cheek humor with that behind-the-scenes, wink-at-the-audience feel.
In other words, Jack Black, Paul Rudd and the cast are playing characters who are filming this giant snake remake, and all sorts of ridiculous stuff happens. According to the trailer—feel free to skip it if you want—it’s got that fun, campy adventure vibe with a big budget. So if you're into monster mayhem and a good laugh, let's start this new year with a blast!
We are kicking off the new year with some giant snake fun and plenty of laughs, join us for our first Film & Social of the year! We'll be adding our thoughts on our Letterboxd Page, so you can chime in there too.
And hey, if a giant snake can make it to 2026, we can all survive another year of movie mayhem!
See you there!

💀🎬 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE (FILM & SOCIAL)
Leicester Square, Cranbourn Street, London, GB☣️ Time cannot kill a virus, but a virus cannot destroy the beast within us. The barbarian inside us never truly dies.
Hey guys 👋 We’re now entering the second chapter of the post-apocalyptic trilogy that began with 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. This new story continues in the same universe but takes things in a darker, almost in a spiritual direction — exploring the rise of a new kind of religion. This entry will be directed by Nia DaCosta, with Danny Boyle returning as producer.
Whatever you thought of 28 Years Later , it was at the very least original — with its subdued mother-and-son storyline and bold new direction. This sequel looks set to build on that, expanding Spike’s journey and the sinister cult of the Jimmies, led by the chilling Sir Jimmy Crystal. Once again, the virus isn’t the real enemy.
We’ll be gathering for a chilling Saturday of film and social time — probably chatting about the series, apocalyptic religions, or something along those lines. Final details will be updated closer to the time.
It should be a fun one — see you guys at the meetup! 💬

🔦🎬 RETURN TO SILENT HILL
Leicester Square, Cranbourn Street, London, GB📻 Entering that strange world again, the one that never lets you leave. It's like an altered state of mind or a waking nightmare.
Hello guys 👋 I’m not sure what January did to deserve being called the dumping ground for horror, but I beg to differ as this month is packed with legacy releases (although, more sequels!) that are well worth watching, including this one (fingers crossed). Return to Silent Hill marks the long-awaited continuation of the cult franchise, and after nearly 19 years, director Christophe Gans finally returns to helm the new sequel.
The reception for the Silent Hill Series has always divided audiences, movie fans and gamers rarely see eye to eye, but that only adds to the fun and intrigue. For those catching up, the series currently includes the 2006 original and the 2012 sequel.
We will be meeting for our usual casual drinks before the film. Maybe talk about games and movies, and all that jazz. Final details of the meetup will be updated closer to the time.
Looking forward to seeing you guys and catchup!

⏳🎬 MERCY
Leicester Square, Cranbourn Street, London, GB🧑⚖️ If the future means swapping out judges for hot AI, well, let’s just say we might end up screwed in more ways than one!
👋 Hey guys so if the future means we get judged by gorgeous AI instead of grumpy old judges, we might be in for some hot trouble! In other words, Mercy might just prove that getting a fair trial in the near future is going to come with a whole new level of eye candy and probably a lot more confusion!”
So just to fill you in: the movie is directed by Timur Bekmambetov—yep, the guy behind Wanted and Night Watch—and it’s set in a futuristic Los Angeles. The gist is that Chris Pratt’s character has to prove his innocence to an AI judge, played by Rebecca Ferguson. If you’re into a mix of sci-fi twists and a little courtroom drama, this one sounds like a lot of fun.
We're keeping this one laid-back and easygoing—think of it as a chill social film review. We’ll lock in the exact details closer to the date, so keep an eye on this page for updates.
For now, just keep in mind that swapping out human judges for AI is still more sci-fi than reality—at least for now—thanks to a whole bunch of ethical puzzles. But hey, it could still happen someday soon, so be very afraid… or at least very amused! LOL.
See you guys at the meet up!
