🚥🎬MULHOLLAND DR. +DRINKS🍺

Clubhouse 5

🚧 YOU'RE IN BOTH DREAMS AND YOU'RE SCARED TOO.
You get even more frightened when I see how afraid you are and then I realise what it is. Are you in search of stardom or are you in search of yourself in the city of dreams? The key to this mystery lies somewhere on Mulholland Drive. If you enjoyed Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Lost Highway and Twin Peaks then you were sure enjoy David Lynch’s surrealist neo-noir masterpiece Muholland DR.

This film was originally conceived as a television pilot, and a large portion of the film was already shot with Lynch's plan to keep it open-ended for a potential series. After viewing the cut television executives rejected it. Lynch then provided an ending to the project, making it a feature film. Since then this Mulholland Gem has received both some of the harshest epithets and some of the most lavish praise in recent cinematic history Join me for drinks and prepare to be disturbed.

  1. First: We will meet for drinks🍻at the ClubHous5 in Leicester Square to discuss everything David Lynch. Yep this is not your regular meetup 😁. A table has been reserved under "The Hideout ".
  2. Then: 🍿🍿We're off to the last independent Cinema still operating in the West End since 1962 Prince Charles Cinema for a drive around Muholland Dr. The Prince Charles Cinema Bar is also available just outside our screen for more drinks and snacks.
  3. After: ☑️ We chat, rate and score the film.
  • Plot: After a car wreck on the winding Mulholland Drive renders a woman amnesiac, she and a perky Hollywood-hopeful search for clues and answers across Los Angeles in a twisting venture beyond dreams and reality. Trailer
  • 💺Seat locations: We are located from seats D18 but you are welcome to sit where you feel moire comfortable and we will watch out for you.

🏵🎬MIDSOMMAR: DIRECTOR'S CUT + DRINKS🍺

Clubhouse 5

🌸💀🇸🇪 LET THE FESTIVALS BEGIN
Even if you are deeply traumatised by grief and for the sake of cultural anthropology research and would you make the same choices?
I remember seeing this folk horror a few years back with a friend. We were sitting together, I was fidgeting a little and we were both wondering when is this going to end? Three days later when we spoke on the phone to our surprise we found out how much we actually liked this film. It's funny how some art forms can absorb differently through our skin and psyche. I also remember having a similar effect with a completely different movie called Starship Troopers. I hated that film when I saw it and then after a few days I realised that it wasn't that bad.

The director’s cut is something that I’ve been very curious about for quite sometime mainly because I couldn’t understand the decisions some of these characters made and I’m hoping to get some insight in this version. I guess one reason that I haven’t checked this directors cut is because the original version was already considerable long, needless to say, you may need a little patience to get through this movie.

I am fascinated to take a look at this extended cut through a cultural and sociological lens. As I look back at different types and stages of our societies around the world, I have realised that interpersonal relationships are much more than just cultural experiences especially when it comes to the politics in academic circles. Whether you are in high school or intellectual circles, the reality is altered particularly in the younger years of our lives where we are clearly driven. We are eager to find out or impress at all cost for the sake of others or for the sake of the written word. No reflection of my life, LOL. So join me for some research and a drink.

  1. First: 🍻We will meet at the newly refurnished and hip CLUBHOUSE 5 in Leicester Square around the corner from the famous Prince Charles Cinema. A table has been reserved under "Jonny".
  2. Then: 🍿🍿We're off to the last independent Cinema still operating in the West End since 1962 Prince Charles Cinema; to watch the director's cut of "Midsommar".
  3. After: ☑️ We chat, rate and score the film.
  • 🏵Plot: A couple travels to Northern Europe to visit a rural hometown's fabled Swedish mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult. Trailer
  • 💺Seat locations: We are located from seats F1 and F2 but you can sit where ever you feel more comfortable and we will watch out for you.
