About us
👋 Welcome to The Hideout: London’s most hyperactive social film club, built by horror fans for horror fans, exploring every corner of horror and the darker edge of sci-fi.
This is a home for fearless film lovers, indie creators, and dreamers, who dare to explore the depths of dystopia, drawn to the uncanny worlds of Hitchcock, Kubrick, Carpenter, Craven, Cronenberg, Argento, Lovecraft, and beyond.
We meet regularly for screenings, share laughs over drinks, and rave (or rant) together on our Letterboxd Page. You’ll also find us hanging out at our BFI Riverfront socials — always a great time. We stay on top of film news, and members get to vote on what we watch next via our WhatsApp or Telegram groups (unlocked after your first meetup).
We’re all about supporting independent cinema, whether it’s at the Prince Charles Cinema, exciting film festivals, or the BFI,. That means we often snag special perks and early access as part of our crew. From road trips to spooky festivals, pub quizzes to Riverfront hangouts, there’s always something fun in the mix.
Come hang out with a great crowd we’d love to have you with us.

📼🎬 TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA
Curzon Soho, 99 Shaftesbury Ave, London W1D 5DY, United Kingdom, London, GBApologies for the confusion and rescheduling. This event is now locked in and will be going ahead.

💋If it gets too real, you can always turn it off!
👋 Hey guys, we’ve got an upcoming screening I’m pretty excited about. It’s a satirical romantic horror drama from Jane Schoenbrun. She usually makes really unique films, and this one sounds like it’ll be something special.
The plot follows a filmmaker rebooting an ’80s slasher and meeting the original final girl. They end up forming a bond, and the lines between reality and the film start to blur. Should be an interesting watch.
We’ll meet for casual drinks before the screening, and we’ll have time to discuss the film afterward.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!

🦁 ROAR
The Nickel Cinema, 117-119 Clerkenwell Road, London, GB🐾 Roar is an American adventure comedy film written and directed by Noel Marshall. Its plot follows Hank, a naturalist who lives on a nature preserve in Africa with lions, leopards, tigers, and other big cats.
The film stars Marshall as Hank, his real-life wife Tippi Hedren (better known for her roles in Hitchcock's The Birds and Marnie) as his wife Madeleine, with Hedren's daughter Melanie Griffith and Marshall's sons John and Jerry Marshall in supporting roles.
Roar (1981) is infamous for the on-set real injuries its actors and crew suffered and yet, in 2016 Tippi Hedren tried to denigrate Hitchcock's legacy by publishing an autobiography alleging that during the filming of The Birds the legendary director used live aggressive birds that pecked at her.
Despite that alleged experience in 1963, and to put things into perspective, Tippi agreed to subject herself, and her own daughter, to a perilous shoot with much more dangerous animals. During a promo shoot in 1973, Hedren was bitten in the head by a lion, Cherries, whose teeth scraped against her skull. She was taken to Sherman Oaks Hospital, where her wounds were treated and she was given a tetanus shot.
She was admitted to Antelope Valley Hospital after Tembo, the five-ton elephant, picked her up with his trunk by the ankle, fracturing it before bucking her off his back; Hedren said that Tembo had been trying to keep her from falling and was not at fault (it seems it's easier to forgive an elephant than a crow...). She was left with phlebitis and gangrene, in addition to a fractured hand and abrasions on her leg. Several days earlier Tembo had bucked his trainer into a tree and broken her shoulder. Hedren was also scratched on the arm by a leopard and bitten on the chest by a cougar.
Her daughter, Melanie Griffith received 50 sutures after being attacked by a lioness. It was feared that she would lose an eye, but she eventually recovered without being disfigured, although she did require some facial reconstruction.
In hindsight, Hitchcock's setup was a walk in the park by comparison...
Beyond the gruesome behind the scenes and the screen spectacle, the film portrays the complex bond between humans and animals, highlighting both the majesty and unpredictability of wildlife while capturing the unrelenting energy and peril of living in close quarters with wild creatures.

☠️🎬 CREEPSHOW
The Cinema Museum, 2 Dugard Way, SE11 4TH, GB💀 Get ready for a terrifying night of retro horror at The Cinema Museum with the first instalment of Horror for a Cause: Save the Cinema Museum – a special four-month fundraising event celebrating the iconic horror films of the 1980s.
Kicking off the series is Creepshow (1982), George A. Romero’s and Stephen King’s unforgettable anthology of monsters, madness, and macabre tales.
It consists of five segments intercut with a sixth story acting mostly as an opening and epilogue; two of the segments, "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" and "The Crate", are based on stories by Stephen King, while the others are original material he wrote for the film, in his screenwriting debut!
Blending comic-book style visuals with classic horror storytelling, Creepshow remains one of the most beloved cult horror films of its era and is the perfect introduction to this celebration of 80s genre cinema.
Every ticket purchased and every donation made will go directly towards The Cinema Museum’s fundraising campaign.
So grab your friends, embrace the scares, and join us for a night of horror, nostalgia, and cinema magic – all for a cause worth fighting for.--------------------------
