BRITISH DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL 2022

CLOSE UP CINEMA CENTRE

THE 9TH ANNUAL BRITISH DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL HERE AND NOTHING CAN BE SO DEAR. This is the The Film Festival Guild’s 4th and final entry of the year (until next year) and finishing off with a blast presenting a documentary about the most controversial and troubled comedian in the UK "Ian Cognito: A Life and A Death Onstage”.

For nearly ten years The British Documentary Film Festival has been growing and are proud of the dynamic, important and creative documentaries they’ve had the opportunity to screen in many of London’s best cinemas. Accepting documentaries from all around the world, all lengths and all budgets; looking for passionate stories well told and need to be seen.

ABOUT THIS INCREDIBLE EVENT PROGRAMME
This will be hosted at the Close-Up Cinema in Shoreditch, London, and you are invited to an evening of exclusive short and feature films for one night only. This is an incredible opportunity to see some of the brightest up and coming documentary filmmakers as this film festival helps to support, showcase and promote independent filmmaking that encompasses a wide spectrum.

We begin with a tightly curated short documentary film selection with Orca in Generations of Sound, The Ginger Arrows and Rush. This will be followed by the feature premier of Ian Cognito: A Life and A Death Onstage. A documentary about one of the most popular, controversial and troubled comedian in the UK and features interviews from such comedians as Matt Lucas, Jo Brand and James Acaster. The screening will begin and end with live Q&A sessions with the filmmakers, hosted by BAFTA award-winning actor Stuart Brennan, and the film festival will conclude with the announcement of our BDFF award winners to celebrate the creative achievements of independent documentary filmmakers.

SUPPORTING CREATIVES
This important festival also serves to help support, collaborate with and promote local creatives and to help encourage more local connections and the growth of the British Animation Community!

A NOTE FOR CREATIVES
London has a thriving festival scene and we invite distributors, press, sales agents and financiers to each screening, so if you’re looking for ways to promote your film further, we’re here to help. There are several awards up for grabs, to celebrate the very best of the submissions received, curated from this Official Selection. We look forward to supporting your work. https://www.festivalreel.org/bdff-submission-guidelines
