What we’re about
👋 HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE HIDEOUT THE MOST ACTIVE HORROR, SCI-FI, ACTION, AND THRILLERS CLUB IN LONDON MADE BY FANS FOR FANS.
In a nutshell, we are just a bunch of Die Hard Film Buffs, Filmmakers, Creators, Comic Book Nerds, Geeks, and Trekkies who are aficionados of Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Tim Burton, David Lynch, John Carpenter, James Cameron, Gene Roddenberry, H.P Lovecraft, you name it, who like to go out for drinks and watch movies. Now and again we just meet up for drinks at a social to catch up again at the BFI and that’s pretty much it.
We are also avid supporters of Independent Cinema, The Film Festival Guild, Medicinema and establishments like Prince Charles Cinema and the British Film Institute to mention a few. Thanks to this we sometimes gain special access and discounts to special events that we can then share with you.
We try to stay well informed when it comes to film news, New Releases and Re-Releases and members are also able to vote for what films they want to see through our Social Media, WhatsApp Group and the non-group WhatsApp Channel.
Whatever the time of year we do our best to always be around, come and join us for a good time.

🎬 WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SEQUEL BTW?
Looks like the heat wave is cooling down and off we go to the spooky fall. What’s going on guys It is hard to believe we have reached September and almost a whole year has gone by. Doesn’t it feel so much like ludicrous speed in the age of Spaceballs? At this point, I am wondering what you thought about Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a sequel that took 36 years to make. Do you think it was worth it? And by the way what’s with all these sequels? So far I counted 23 sequels this year alone. It looks like we are getting more sequels per year than we ever did than the entire decade of the 80s and 90s. Have we run out of ideas? Speaking of fresh ideas are you looking forward to the British Horror Film Festival at the British Museum on the 12th of October? Well mark your calendar as we will be going behind the scenes. Stay tuned.
If this is your first time, we are just a super chilled crowd of movie fans, creators, and filmmakers, who love sci-fi, horror, action thrillers, etc and talking about them. And to make things more fun we will be joined by Movie Roadhouse and we’ll be meeting again at The BFI Lounge (Downstairs Lightbox Entrance). It is a pretty nice place by Waterloo Bridge and the River Thames. The bar offers a range of dishes and beverages plus we can sit inside or outside the bar area. This is a pretty cool place to hang out if you are a film buff and it’s also part of The British Film Institute.
So let’s get together once again and enjoy what is left of the sun before diving into spooky season. Maybe you can tell me if you have any new ideas? Look forward to seeing you then and until then may the force be with you!

- 🪓🎬 FRIDAY THE 13THPrince Charles Cinema, London
🩸Before the hockey mask and the infamous villain that became Jason Voorhees, there was a legend. A death curse that doomed a little town and its camp called Crystal Lake.
What's going on guys? So this will be a fun watch as it will be screening on the actual day of Friday the 13th. Now does this mean it will be bad luck to watch this film on this day? To be honest with you, I don't know but I can give you a few fun facts. It all started around the idea of cashing in from the success of John Carpenter’s Halloween obviously. Cause even after two years of its release, people were still raving about the 1978 flick. This led to Sean Cunningham deciding to build a story centered around the day of Friday the 13th and therefore a legacy was born. It is a pre-hockey mask Jason Voorhees by the way just so you know. Still, if you haven't watched all of the other movies, you will enjoy the twist in this one.
Let’s meet up on the most unhappy day of the year. And I’ll tell you everything you need to know about old Jason. Here is the plan:
- 5:30 PM: We will meet directly downstairs at the Prince Charles Cinema's Bar as we may have to re-queue for this film. Look out for The Hideout Sign.
- 6:00 PM: We proceed to watch camp counsellors get slashed in Friday the 13th. I will be sitting in row E15 but feel free to sit where you feel more comfortable.
- 7:45PM: We briefly reconvene to score the film. The results will be published on our Club Boards and on our WhatsApp or Telegram Group (available at request) or you can join the WhatsApp Channel or Telegram Channel.
- 8:00 PM: Drinks at The Bear & Staff

🎬 PLOT DETAILS
- A group of teenage camp counsellors attempt to re-open an abandoned summer camp with a tragic past, but they are stalked by a mysterious, relentless killer. TV Spot

🔧WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER TRUST STRANGERS
Well you don't know their story, you will make assumptions, they will make assumptions and they may know more about you than you think. For what it’s worth we are here to learn that setting foot in a stranger’s house is a big mistake. Needless to say this Friday the 13th we shall Speak No Evil. What's going on guys? Let me tell you that this could be considered as Blumhouse’s unnecessary remake of the Danish film Gæsterne. But hey, this is also by no means an indication of a remake that nobody wants to see. There are some good perks here too. For instance, the film will feature the talented James McAvoy who is a pretty good actor in my opinion and he does seem to choose his roles wisely. Also, the director of this film is James Watkins who you may remember from The Woman in Black, Eden Lake and The Decent 2 which are pretty solid films.
So if you want to check out this movie it will be at the very least a laugh. We will meet for beverages as usual beforehand and then after we may pass judgement gently on the film without passing judgement on each other hopefully lol. Check out the schedule breakdown below:
- 5:00 PM: We will meet for a chat and drinks at The Picture House Central Upstair Bar on the first floor. You will find me with The Hideout sign.
- 6:00 PM: We move a few floors up to Screen 2 to watch but Speak No Evil. I have selected seat E18 If you wish to sit in the same row.
- 20:10 PM: We reconvene at the bar to score the film. The results will be posted on our Club Boards and on our WhatsApp or Telegram Group (available at request) or you can join the WhatsApp Channel or Telegram Channel.

👓INTRIGUED BY THE IDEA OF ALIENS ENSLAVING THE WORLD?
Well lifelong science fiction fan John Carpenter sure did as he saw a metaphor lurking in the background that tied aliens to a political era. What's going on guys? So this is John Carpenter's take on They Live which is an adaptation of Ray Nelson’s science fiction short Eight O’Clock. This is a D.O.A type of story about a man woken up from a trance that realises that the entire human race has been controlled all along by Aliens. So I’m beginning to think that John Carpenter is another one of those geniuses that can see into the future. I mean look all around us, it's chaos. This cult masterpiece also follows an ordinary man who discovers he can see the world’s most corrupt institutions for what they really are through the help of sunglasses. I’ve had mine for awhile and I am more awake than ever.
This is one of the films you must see before you die, because it serves as a warning of all the traps of consumerism we fall into every day. We are just too relaxed but don’t take my word for it, you may just want to watch this movie. Here is the plan for this afternoon:
- 2:00 PM: We meet for drinks🍻at the Clubhouse where a table will be reserved under The Hideout. This place also serves lunch if you're hungry.
- 3:15 PM: We're off to Prince Charles Cinema to uncover conspiracies because They Live. And they really do and if you want to sit in the same row as me, I'll be taking seat E15
- 5:00 PM: We briefly reconvene to score the film. The results will be published on our Club Boards and on our WhatsApp or Telegram Group (available at request) or you can join the WhatsApp Channel or Telegram Channel.
