About us
Welcome to The Hideout Film Club, London’s most hyperactive social film club, built by horror fans for horror fans, exploring every corner of horror and the darker side of science fiction.
We’re a diverse mix of friends, familiar faces, newcomers, film lovers, indie creators and curious minds drawn to the strange, the unsettling and the extraordinary. Our tastes range from psychological horror and cult classics to cosmic nightmares and guilty pleasures. We love films that challenge us, as well as those that are simply good fun and give us plenty to talk about afterwards.
You’ll often find us at the Prince Charles Cinema, the BFI Southbank and other venues across London, supporting independent film and cinema, discovering overlooked gems, revisiting old favourites and debating what we’ve watched over coffee or drinks. We also enjoy film festivals, occasional road trips, pub quizzes and our regular BFI Riverfront socials.
Beyond the horror, we try to keep up with the latest film news, new releases and re-releases. We also share recommendations, review films on Letterboxd and vote on upcoming screenings through our WhatsApp and Telegram groups, which you can join after your first meetup.
If you're a lifelong horror enthusiast or simply curious about the darker side of cinema, there's always room for another perspective.

🪳🎬 REECE SHEARSMITH PRESENTS: CREEPSHOW

👋 Hey guys! And happy Halloween weekend as we prepare to watch this 1982 horror anthology classic, directed by horror maestro George A. Romero, with an original screenplay by Stephen King, who also makes a memorable cameo appearance.
The screening will be presented by actor and comedian Reece Shearsmith, who will also be signing copies of his new book, Things I Took from the Dark: The Museum of Me.
This horror anthology pays homage to America's EC horror comics of the 1950s, presenting a collection of delightfully creepy tales ranging from an escaped monster and a cheating wife to an invasion of vengeful cockroaches.
The Meetup: We'll be meeting at the BFI Box Office at 5:45 pm before heading to NFT 1 for the 6:00 pm screening. We'll be seated in Row D, seats 15–18, but feel free to choose whichever seats you prefer.
After the film: At around 8:25 pm, we'll reconvene at the BFI Café Bar for some late-night drinks, a Letterboxd review of the film and a chance to share our thoughts.
And what better way to welcome All Hallows' Eve than with a bunch of wicked tales, courtesy of our skeletal host, The Creep himself. 💀

👋 Hi guys! Hope you're ready for an epic Halloween plan as we head deep into the historic and incredibly creepy Avery Hill Mansion.
This location is famously known as London’s most haunted house and it's a stunning, yet eerie 19th-century estate that has been mostly shut to the public since 2020. Inside, you'll find massive ballrooms, a sculpture gallery, and marble passages.
But this Halloween, this entire venue is being transformed into a living horror village packed with cinematic scare zones, live actors, hidden secret experiences, and a story with an actual plot. This highly intense, immersive scream park is Europe's award-winning horror experience and I couldn't be more excited to head there and experience it with you guys!
🕒 Game Plan & Logistics
To make sure we get a chance to chat and break the ice before we start screaming, we are meeting up a bit earlier for food and drinks:- 5:30 PM: We’ll be gathering at Pope Street Bar & kitchen to grab a drink, a bite to eat and get acquainted before the madness begins. I’ll post on the day exactly where our table will be sitting, or you can check our live group chat section.
- 6:40 PM: We’ll head over to the Avery Hill Mansion grounds together so we can arrive with a comfortable buffer before our entry slot.
- 7:00 PM: We head past the gates into Halloween Town and please remember our entry slot is fixed, so please don't be late for this bit.
- Running Late? If you miss us at the pub, please head straight to the main entrance to meet us. If you happen to arrive later or picked a different time slot, you can catch up with us via the group chat section of this page!

For one night, the Natural History Museum is opening its doors after dark and transforming its galleries into the gathering place of the Vampiric Council, and we’ve apparently been invited to the wedding of their leader. Whether accepting an invitation from a room full of vampires is particularly wise is another matter...
The Meetup: We’ll be meeting outside the Cromwell Road entrance of the Natural History Museum at 6:30 pm, giving everyone plenty of time to find the group before the event begins at 7:00 pm. Once everyone is together, we’ll head inside for an evening of vampiric festivities and explore the museum after dark. 🧛♂️🩸

👋 Hey guys! We're getting together for a night shift of horror as we revisit the original Halloween timeline, following Michael Myers from The Night He Came Home through the increasingly strange and convoluted sequels, all the way to the Curse of Thorn.
The Original Haddonfield Timeline consists of Halloween (1978), Halloween II, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myres and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. As a bonus, we'll also be watching the franchise's strange middle child, Halloween III: Season of the Witch.
🎃 The Meetup: We'll be meeting at Victory House Bar at 9:45 pm to discuss the different Halloween timelines and where this particular one fits in.
At around 10:45 pm, we'll head over to Prince Charles Cinema, where the marathon will be taking place across both screens. We've chosen Screen 2, but you're welcome to choose either, as we'll regroup during the breaks.
You'll find the ticket information, cinema address and map below.After the marathon: We'll regroup for one final gallop for coffee, a group pic and some final thoughts before heading home to safety. Feel free to come dressed in your scariest or quirkiest Halloween costume!
