🐋 The odds of being swallowed alive by a whale are not zero. You may be the next one…

👋 Hey everyone! I don’t know about you guys, but to me 2026 has been an exceptional year for original horror films. And now it seems we’re also getting some pretty good monster movies in the mix. I am so looking forward to this one.

This one is said to be one of the most intense theatrical experiences of the year, as it’s set to have deep psychological battles, visceral tension and nauseating body horror. Added to that, the film is directed by Brian Duffield, co-written by Daniel Kraus, who adapted his own bestselling novel, and features new scream king Austin Abrams.

The general plot is about a grief-stricken scuba diver searching for his father’s remains off the California coast. He is then swallowed by an 80-foot sperm whale, which kind of sounds depraved if you ask me. And then things only get worse as he is trapped inside the beast’s stomach with only an hour of oxygen left, leaving him to fight for his life. So, sick times indeed.

The Meetup: The plan is to meet up in town and talk about creature features before proceeding to the film. Then after the film, we’ll regroup once again to discuss what we’ve witnessed and give it our Letterboxd scores. And as always, I’ll post the final details and exact times as we get closer to the date, so make sure you come back here.

I am so gassed that we’re finally getting an aquatic horror movie that isn’t just about recycled sharks. 🐋🌊
