About us

So, Charles asked for a rundown...and I think this is what he means. Welcome to The Collective: originally kicking off September 2026. We don’t really do the whole rigid "book club" thing.

No homework...no pop quizzes...just good text and deep digs.
Here is how we operate...layout style:

  • The Quarterly Routine: Every few months we dive into a new focus area: speculative fiction, heavy prose, graphic panels, even stellar historical narratives. We pitch ideas, we choose a direction, and we digest it at our own pace.
  • The Backchannel: We have a community space to drop jots and chat, but if you just want to read along in the background, that is totally cool too. Zero pressure.
  • Pitching a Vibe: Want to suggest a specific era, dystopian landscape, or overarching theme? Head to the forum thread and drop your idea. We vote on the general vibe in advance so everyone has time to prep.
  • Picking the Text: Once the theme is locked down, a new thread opens for specific title recommendations...whether it's a massive literary epic, a striking manga, or a graphic novel. We take suggestions for three weeks and lock in the final choice a week before the new reading session hits.

& that’s it. That’s the rundown! BYOB & join us virtually this Sept-Dec as we dive into "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel GarcΓa MΓ‘rquez.

After reading, we'll take a poll on watching the adaptation on Netflix to keep the conversation going! If you are on Meetup our virtual readalongs are listed there as well: https://www.meetup.com/thenewcollective/Β
