About us
Welcome to The Project Community - Auckland (formerly known as the PRINCE2 Auckland User Group). This group was formed in 2012 to help support those adopting PRINCE2 in the Auckland Region. We are connected to The Project Community - Wellington (also formerly known as the PRINCE2 Wellington User Group). Both groups will continue to hold free sessions throughout the year and continue to support those interested in getting their PRINCE2 foundation or practitioner qualifications but we want to actively promote and support capabilities in those other areas of project management, programme management, portfolio management, project office management, benefits management, strategic realisation and change management. We'll also take an interest in digitisation, Agile development, Business intelligence and Artificial intelligence. If you can do a project with it, then we're interested in it.
Note, there is no formal constitution and membership is free. Costs of venues, food and liquid refreshments at our meetings are through the generosity of our sponsors.
What the group is:
• Forward thinking and positive
• A great place to network at a professional level
• Diverse - in terms of views and membership
• Focused on sharing and learning from each other
• Embracing relevant new technologies and new thinking

Beyond the Hype:
Deloitte Centre, 1 Queen Street, Auckland, NZWhy Most Businesses Are Failing at AI, and Why Project Managers Hold the Answer
Next month The Project Community Auckland brings you two speakers who are helping organisations Turn AI ambition into practical, governed delivery.
Beyond the Hype: Why Most Businesses Are Failing at AI, and Why Project Managers Hold the Answer - Delivered by Mark Lucas
Everyone's talking about AI. Almost every business is trying to adopt it. Most are failing, and not because of the technology. Mark Lucas works at the coalface of AI adoption with New Zealand businesses, and the pattern is clear: this is a capability and change problem, not a technology one. In this session Mark cuts through the hype with real stories from the market, unpacks the link between individual and organisational AI maturity (why a business can only move as fast as its people can), and lays out the order that actually works. His argument for this room: project management discipline isn't a casualty of AI, it's the difference between the businesses pulling ahead and the ones stuck at the starting gate. With one catch: those skills only pay off when they're pointed at the right target.

Governing AI You Can Prove — Introducing the GAICC Framework, Maturity Model, Roadmap & Credentials - Delivered by Faiz Rasool
A free, open, standards-based operating system for turning AI ambition into governed, value-realising delivery.
AI ambition is everywhere; a coherent way to govern and deliver it is not. This session introduces the GAICC AI Governance Framework — a free, open, standards-based system that gives any organisation one navigable model for governing AI end to end.
In fifteen minutes, we'll walk its four parts:
the Framework (the operating model — accountability, controls and assurance on a single canvas);
the Maturity Model (a scoreable self-assessment to place where you stand today);
the Implementation Roadmap (a phased path from mandate to certification);
and the Credential Landscape (the roles and capability to run it).
Along the way we'll connect each part to the questions delivery leaders are already asking — clear outcomes, business value and ROI, portfolio funding decisions, and why project fundamentals still decide success. You'll leave knowing exactly where to look, and how to use it, on Monday.Our speakers:
