Loch Leven the easy way - 4.6 Miles and 700' Elevation

Details

Hey all,

So this is the easy way to Loch Leven Lakes. I've done the steep route to LL too many times to enjoy it anymore. So this is a quick in and out that cuts off a lot of elevation and miles. Here's a blatant copy and paste from Alltrails; This route takes you to Loch Leven Lakes and Salmon Lake from the Salmon Lakes Trailhead. It is a great alternative to hiking the main Loch Leven Trail if you'd like a shorter hike with less elevation gain. There are many options for dispersed camping at Loch Leven Lakes, making this a great intro backpacking trip for families with kids. The trail begins on the side of Forest Road 38 past Huysink Lake. You'll find the trailhead near a willow thicket. Limited parking is available side of the road. There are no facilities at the trailhead.

SUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING (Copied and pasted from from Allan Weisman's meetups...): Cotton not recommended. 2 liters water minimum, light rain shell or fleece jacket for warmth in case of thunderstorms, sturdy shoes or boots, sunhat, sunscreen and lip-balm, lunch, whistle, hiking poles, and mosquito repellent.

This is a slow, smell the roses and check out the scenery paced hike. If you sign up show up. No shows and late signoffs are not okay!!! When someone no shows it means someone on the waitlist, if there is one, doesn't get to go. Not cool. If the waitlist gets big I may message for confirmation, so please keep an eye out.

This is a dog friendly hike.

If you're going to be a passenger, please be courteous to your driver by not wearing your hiking boots in their car. Have a bag to put your boots in after hiking. Also, not everyone uses electronic payments. Please bring cash to pay your driver.
