Waveny Park Evening Photo Walk
Details
This Shared Walk explores Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT during the transition from late afternoon into early evening, focusing on light, mood, and observation.
Waveny offers a mix of open fields, tree-lined paths, gardens, and the stately Waveny House itself. As the sun lowers, the wide lawns catch long, directional light, trees begin to cast extended shadows, and the textures of stone, grass, and foliage become more pronounced. The mansion and surrounding structures take on softer contrast and warmer tones, creating a calm, layered atmosphere to work with.
We’ll walk the grounds at a relaxed pace, moving between open space and more enclosed wooded areas. Expect a balance of broad landscape views and smaller details, with shifting light shaping both.
We’ll meet at the main entrance near Waveny House. There is ample parking nearby.
We’ll walk the same route together, stopping often to look and photograph. Each participant will receive a simple creative prompt to guide what they pay attention to. The goal is not to chase moments, but to practice seeing and responding to what’s already there.
This is not a workshop or critique group. There’s no competition and no pressure to perform. All cameras are welcome, including phones. Sharing images is always optional.
Please dress for the conditions and expect a slow, deliberate walk.
