We’re a fun, inclusive community where everyone belongs. We bring people together through movie nights, dining outings, happy hours, and social events. Volunteer-Run & Community-Powered
Our group is run by volunteer event organizers who plan and host activities in their own free time—doing things they genuinely enjoy and want to share with others. Events are created when and how our organizers are able, so schedules and offerings may vary.
If you’re interested in helping plan, host, or support events, we’d love to hear from you. Please reach out to us via direct message or email to get involved.
Cancellations, No-Shows & Communication Policy
If you can’t attend, please update your RSVP to “Not Attending” as soon as possible—ideally at least 2 hours before the event.
We have a three-strike policy for no-shows or lack of communication. After three instances, members may be removed. Excessive cancellations, even with notice, may also lead to removal.

Option 1: Original Farmers Market Surface Lots
Best if you plan to eat mostly at the Market.
• Validation: 90 minutes free with validation from any Market merchant.
• Rates: After 90 minutes, about $3 per 15 minutes, with a daily max around $24–$30.
Option 2: The Grove Parking Structure
Best if you plan to browse shops or stay later.
• Validation: Usually 1 hour free.
• Pro Tip: If you see a movie at AMC The Grove 14, they often validate for up to 4 hours for about $5.
Option 3: Rideshare / Public Transit
Skip the parking hassle with easy drop-offs near the Grove Drive entrance or along Fairfax Ave.
⚠️ Important: Make sure you park in the lot that matches where you get validated. If you park at The Grove but eat at the Farmers Market, your ticket likely won’t validate.

Step back in time at one of LA’s most unique cultural hubs. Housed in a former atomic-bomb-proof armory, The Wende Museum features everything from secret police files to underground East German art and actual segments of the Berlin Wall.- Time: 2:15 PM (Meeting) | 2:30 PM (Free Tour Starts)

- Meeting Point: We gather in the Garden Courtyard (outdoor area with the Berlin Wall pieces).

This is a community-led, no-host event. There is no designated check-in person, so we use the "Self-Start" method:

- The 2:30 PM Pivot: At 2:30 PM, the museum offers a free public tour. The group will head inside to join the docent. If you’re late, just look for the tour group in the main gallery!
- Say Hello: Since we don't have a host with a sign, just ask, "Are you here for the Meetup?"

Lake Balboa Sunday Stroll: Walk, Talk & Fresh Air - No Host
Lake Balboa/Anthony C. Beilenson Park, 6300 Balboa Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, US🌸 Every-Other-Sunday: Lake Balboa Casual Walk (No-Host)
Join us for a low-key, 1.3-mile stroll around the beautiful Lake Balboa. Whether you’re looking to get some steps in, enjoy the cherry blossoms (when in season!), or just meet new neighbors, this is a recurring time for the community to gather.- When: Every 2 weeks on Sunday
- Time: 10:00 AM (Walk starts at 10:15 AM)
- Location: Lake Balboa / Anthony C. Beilenson Park
- Meeting Point: We meet at the Swan Boat Rental Office (the big "Wheel Fun Rentals" building by the water). Look for others in the area around 10:00 AM!
🚗 Parking & Logistics
- Free Parking: There are multiple large, free parking lots inside the park. The closest lot to our meeting point is accessible via the Balboa Blvd entrance.
- Accessibility: The path is a flat, 1.3-mile paved loop. It is wheelchair, stroller, and dog-friendly (leashed).
- Restrooms: Located near the boat rentals and at various points around the lake loop.
📍 How to Find Each Other (No-Host Disclaimer)
Please Note: This is a "No-Host" event. There is no designated leader or check-in desk. The event relies on the community showing up and saying "hello!" We are actively looking for group hosts if your like to help us with this event or hosting other events for our group reach out info@thesocialmoviegroup.com- Identify the Group: Head to the Swan Boat rental area. If you see people standing around looking like they are there for a walk, they probably are! Don't be shy—just ask, "Are you here for the community walk?"
- Use the Comments: If you are running late or can’t find the group, post a comment on this event page (e.g., "I'm wearing a blue hat standing by the ducks!").
- Self-Start: At 10:15 AM, the group usually begins the loop in a clockwise direction. If you arrive late, just start walking—you’ll likely catch up!
