This Creative Writing Community is a casual and fun, while also structured and instructional, space for sharing and receiving feedback on your creative works. It is also a great opportunity to connect with other creatives.

A bit about me, I'm Chevahn - a Creative Writer, Screenwriter and Writing Coach. I've been in love with writing storytelling since I was just three years old. I've written novels, screenplays and short stories - any form of storytelling appeals to me! I have years of experience as a Professor, Writing Instructor and Writing Coach. I've been helping students and clients alike, of all ages, with their creative projects in a variety of environments.
I have experience working in Entertainment Writing, in Romance and Fantasy stories. I've run a Writer's Room and helped create characters and worlds that spanned hundreds of episodes. I hold a BA in Creative Writing as well as an MFA in Screenwriting. I founded The Write Story Editorial in order to create more structured pathways to supporting Writers on their journeys. In my righting, I love to explore Science-Fiction themes of alternate reality, the multiverse and what lengths one will adventure to in the name of love. My stories investigate deep emotional and philosophical questions, like fate versus free will, the consequences of changing the past or future, and the beautiful complexities of the human experience.

What survives when a story moves from one version to the next?
What falls away, what gets distorted, and what keeps us recognizing its heart, whether we're looking at a fairy tale, a myth, a film remake, or a novel reimagined for the screen?
Join writer, narrative consultant, and writing instructor Chevahn Brown for Story Roots: Adaptation & the Heart of the Story, a live, single-session workshop exploring the craft of adaptation.We'll dig into how writers identify the emotional core of a story and decide what to keep, what to change, and what to build new. We'll look at real examples of adaptation across mediums and eras, then turn the lens on your own work.
Come with a story you're drawn to adapting: a myth or fairy tale, a film or script, a novel, a piece of folklore, or even a story of your own that you'd like to revisit. You'll apply adaptation methods directly to that story during the workshop and begin shaping your own version around the elements that speak to you most.
Whether you're actively working on an adaptation or simply want to understand why some stories can be retold again and again without losing what makes them powerful, this workshop is an opportunity to get underneath the surface of story and find the roots that hold it together.
