Trailheads is our new Saturday morning group hike — for people who like their conversations wide-ranging, their pace steady, and their mornings spent outside.

The idea is simple. Once or twice a month, when the weather's good and schedules allow, we'll host a hike at the new River District trails just outside of Charlotte. We'll gather at the trailhead, do a quick round of introductions, and open with an interesting idea or question someone has been sitting with lately — something you've read, watched, or noticed during the week that stuck with you. Then we'll head out on the trail together, letting the conversations flow wherever they go.

The point is to move well and think together — trading the ideas, questions, and observations we don't often get to talk about with people who are also curious about the world.

Here's what to expect:

  • Gathering at the trailhead — arrive within the first 10-15 minutes
  • A quick welcome and light opening prompt to get the conversations started
  • A 60-90 minute hike, mostly moderate terrain
  • Small groups and pairs that mix throughout the hike

Bring water, wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather, and consider a light snack. If you want to make it more of a workout, feel free to bring a weighted vest or pack.

We'll meet right at the Forge Village Trailhead — the first trailhead you see when pulling into the main River District, straight ahead as you enter, next to the farm currently under construction. Street parking is available nearby.

If you've been to a Wisdom Walk, think of this as a longer, looser version of the same spirit. If you haven't, no worries — this is a good place to start.
