September Thinking Box - Will a machine take over my job and religious extremism

Details

There are many unknowns about the future, but one aspect that many are discussing is the role of automation in the workplace and the possible consequences. In the first half we will hear what kind of jobs might be affected, the possible consequences and some of the solutions being considered. Is your job at risk? Is it safe to assume that new jobs will emerge as they have previously or is this time different? How might society function if there were fewer jobs to go around?
In the second half we will watch a heartfelt talk about a former religious extremist who successfully began to connect with her then enemies and understand them. Interestingly the internet played a key role in bridging the divide. What happened to her that we can learn from? How might we turn enemies into friends and what works in your experience in this regard?
