What is Behavioral Science?
Behavioral Science (BeSci) sits at the intersection of Economics and Psychology, exploring the mechanisms of choice and decision making. Pioneers of the field include nobel laureates Richard Thaler (2017) and Daniel Kahneman (2002), who contributed significantly to our understanding of Loss Aversion, Prospect Theory, Mental Accounting and Nudge Theory. Their research impacts your daily life without you even knowing it! For example, Singapore’s Human Organ Transplant Act (HOTA) utilizes a default setting (presumed consent). Citizens are automatically registered as donors unless they choose to opt out. This single flip of a default switch dramatically increased donor rates by removing the frictional "sludge" of complex paperwork
