Thinking While Drinking is a group for anyone in the San Diego area interested in discussing topics that will exercise, stimulate and expand your mind - all while enjoying a drink at different locations in our beautiful county.
For each event, the facilitators will come prepared with a handful of thought provoking questions and concepts on the topic at hand, we'll see what everyone has to say and go from there...
We are not suggesting that life's difficult and fascinating questions will be neatly answered during our meetups nor that any sort of professional therapy or dogma will take place. This is just a space to meet other curious, sociable and open-minded people in an atmosphere of exploration and enjoyment.

Holiday Mingle 2025 - Dealing With Holiday Loneliness
The Original 40 Brewing Co, 3117 university ave, San Diego, CA, USLet’s face it, the best part of the holidays is the people. We’re creating a space for a diverse group of Thinkers to connect, swap stories, and enjoy a night out celebrating the numerous holidays. Together we will build real and meaningful connections, from those that enjoy the holiday spirit, to those that might find it challenging.
Suggested viewing before we meet (10 1⁄2 min video): Your Brain On Holiday Loneliness
- How does knowing that "loneliness is a biological signal" rather than a personal failure change how you might treat yourself or others feeling isolated?
- What are some specific "Hallmark movie" expectations you have subconsciously held about the holidays, and how can you rewrite them to be more realistic?
- How can the pressure to be happy during the holidays potentially backfire and create a "double hit" of stress chemistry?
- Share a time when you initiated contact despite feeling hesitation. Did the result match your brain's fear or disprove it?
This is a special event, with special people, and so it's different. In addition to the holiday topic of discussion, the event comes with a drink ticket, great company (new and familiar Thinkers), and you'll depart with great memories.
