Celebrating the Life and Mind of Mike Sorn, “Magical Mikee”
Details
Please join us from 8:00–9:30 p.m. ET on October 29 to celebrate the life and memory of Magical Mike Sorn, who tragically passed away on September 12 as a result of a highway accident along the coast of Central Florida.
Mike’s distinctive approach to critical thinking enriched every conversation he joined. His engagement with the ideas of some of the world’s greatest thinkers was both infectious and inventive—driven by his relentless search for understanding in some of life’s most complex and controversial questions.
We invite you to share your thoughts on Mike’s approach to meaningful discussion and how we might continue building upon his extraordinary example.
We will be joined by Ellen, Mike’s close friend, as well as his family, friends, and members of other Meetups he frequently attended.
“Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep”
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow…
– Mary Elizabeth Frye
Welcome to the "Comprehensivist Wednesdays" series hosted by 52 Living Ideas and the Greater Philadelphia Thinking Society. Transdisciplinarity, Renaissance humanism, homo universalis, and Polymathy are some of the ways of describing this approach, which Buckminster Fuller called Comprehensivity and described as “macro-comprehensive and micro-incisive.”
