Tech Billionaires Who Oppose Democracy (SHANNONDELL Valley Forge)
Details
In recent years, American tech billionaires - especially those from Silicon Valley - have been getting richer and more powerful as artificial intelligence has captured the imaginations and aspirations of investors and speculators. We call the founders of the most advanced tech companies "oligarchs" when they use their wealth to build political power and direct government policy.
But recently, investigative journalists like Gil Duran have revealed darker motives behind some tech oligarchs' drive for power. Some of the richest and most powerful men say that democracy is incompatible with the demands of the fastest-growing tech industries, like AI, GPU chips, cryptocurrency, and space-based internet. CEO's like Elon Musk, and venture capitalists like Mark Andreeson say that neither voters nor bureaucrats should be allowed to interfere with or regulate techno-empires. The most radical of the oligarchs, including Peter Thiel, are promoting authoritarian neo-fascism, where only the wealthiest white male elites would survive a coming apocalypse. Thiel and his radical supporters say democracy is an obsolete technology; that techno-oligarchs should rule the country and the world.
