Evening Hike at Shaw Butte - North Mountain Visitor Center

Details
Join us for an intermediate evening hike at Shaw Butte.
We will meet at the circular benches of the NORTH MOUNTAIN VISITOR CENTER. We start at 6:30pm with a quick intro and depart at 635pm.
We will start out on the #100 trail from the visitor center, then veer south toward #306. Once we hit #306, we stay on it by hiking up towards the Shaw Butte peak.
The first 1.5-2 miles are very easy and good for warm up. Then the climb begins. The trail is rocky and in some spots loose and slippery. We'll be ascending about 700 feet in a mile. Along the way, we'll be treated to beautiful sunset views between March and October. We will stop a few times to let the back of the group catch up. The host will be typically at the back of the group.
After going to the peak, we will come down the north side of the mountain along the service road.
Bring at least 2 liters of water and a flashlight. We will be hiking in the dark.
Be sure to be well hydrated.
