This is a hike near our home that we love to share. Been a while since we've posted it. Weather's looking fine, so come on out and play!
The route will start at the base of the Tonto National Forest, and take us into the Goldfield Mountains, and along a portion of the Pass Mountain Trail around to the Wind Cave. From there we will climb a bit further to the very top of Pass Mountain. The views are spectacular in all directions. From the top, you can see many ranges including, but not limited to, the Superstition and Pinal Mountains, Four Peaks, the White Tanks (on clear days you can even spot Cardinal Stadium in Glendale!), all the way to South Mountain and the Estrellas, down to the San Tans, Picacho, and the Catalinas in Tucson. We will return by the same route.
Let's always remember to observe proper hiking etiquette. Hikers coming uphill have the right of way. When descending the trail, step aside and give space to the people climbing up.
There are a few trail junctions along this route, so let's try to stick together, or, at least, not get too far ahead of the pack. We will stop at each junction to assure we have everybody, but if you are ahead of the hike leaders, you are on your own.
