Gateway Loop - Social Hike
Trail Length: ~4.5 miles (loop)
Elevation Gain/Loss: ~700 ft
Trail Composition: Gravel, sand, compacted dirt.
Rating: The trail is moderately-difficult. Please evaluate your abilities around a moderate pace.
Hiking Time: ~1.5-2 hours
Location: McDowell Sonoran Preserve Gateway Trail, 18333 N Thompson Peak Pkwy, Scottsdale, AZ 85255
Meeting point: The covered area close to the parking lot by the facilities. Walk back toward the trailhead by the restrooms.
Expect well marked trails and facilities at the trailhead. As always, bring water (~1 liter per hour), wear hat, and sunscreen.
This is not a fitness hike. However, if you do not do elevation hikes this trail may not be for you. We will make a few stops to catch our breath and make sure we are all together. Please stay with the group. If you are slower than the group due to injury or fitness level, hike leader may ask you to turn around.
