AND WE'RE BACK! (WEATHER PERMITTING)
Gateway to Inspiration Viewpoint - Social Hike
This is a gorgeous hike on the north side of the Gateway loop area with enough elevation to wake us up and have a great rest of the day.
Trail Length: ~5.6 miles (out and back). 6 if you count the parking lot :)
Elevation Gain/Loss: ~1125 ft
Trail Composition: Gravel, sand, compacted dirt.
Rating: The trail is difficult (and more challenging than the Gateway Loop.) Please evaluate your abilities around a moderate pace.
Hiking Time: ~2.5 hours
Location: McDowell Sonoran Preserve Gateway Trail, 18333 N Thompson Peak Pkwy, Scottsdale, AZ 85255
Meeting point: The covered area close to the parking lot by the facilities. Walk back toward the trailhead by the restrooms. I like to launch close to the table map.
Expect well marked trails and facilities at the trailhead. As always, bring water (~1 liter per hour), wear hat, and sunscreen.
This is not a fitness hike. However, if you do not do elevation hikes this trail may not be for you. We will make a few stops to catch our breath and make sure we are all together. Please stay with the group.
If you are slower than the group due to injury or fitness level, hike leader may ask you to turn around - most likely when we get to the intersection of Gateway Loop and the Wingate Pass trail (WP1).
DOGS: Please leave the furry friends home for this one.
For more information pertaining to this hike, please contact John via the meetup app.
