Join me for a nice, chatting-pace, uphill hike on the Holbert Trail to the Dobbins Lookout at South Mountain. The elevation climb makes you work for the great view at the top.
Difficulty: intermediate outbound trail is almost all constant incline
Trailhead: Holbert Trailhead is located at the far end of a huge parking lot shared by South Mountain Park's Environmental Education building at the Central Ave. entrance
Length: 4.6 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,000 ft
Trail description: This trail starts with a short level to rolling path. Then it climbs constantly all the way to our destination. The very short portion to Dobbins Lookout is very steep. It's a nice trail with nice views, but it can be busy.
Come prepared: Come prepared in your hiking attire, a minimum of 2 liters of water, poles and snacks if you want/need them.
DOGS: Please leave the furry friends at home.
