Hike: The Flat Iron. (Superstition Mountain)

## Please Read Carefully.
## This is one of the popular hikes in the area. It offers a good workout and spectacular views. However this hike is not a beginner hike. You will want to seriously evaluate your hiking abilities and your stamina before signing up for this hike. It will involve climbing over rocks and scrambling up steep inclines. Believe it or not you will have to make your way back down, which can be just as difficult for some folks.
## We will start at the Lost Dutchman State Park Siphon draw trailhead at 0700. We will proceed on the Siphon Draw trail to the Flat Iron. Once we get up there we will determine as a group if we want to hike the last little bit up to peak 5024. We will take a short break for snacks ,pictures etc. Then we will return to the trailhead along the same route.
Distance: Approximately 6.5 mi.
Elevation gain: Approximately 2900'
## Hike type: Out and back. Upper half of hike is extremely steep. More of a climb than a hike.
## We can carpool From Fry's in Apache Junction. We will meet at the extreme South East end of the lot. By Wendy's. We will leave from there at 0630 am. and drive to the trailhead. It costs $10 per vehicle to enter the park. There are Restrooms at the park.

Bring:
Water and other nutrients sufficient to sustain you for 6 hrs of vigorous outdoor activity.
Your preferred method of protecting yourself from the sun and the terrain.
## Any other items that you as an experienced hiker like to bring along on hikes.
