About us
Thriving Utah County is a pilot of Compassionate Citizens (CompassionateCitizens.us) and the Thriving America Movement (ThrivingAmerica.us).
Our goal is collaborative, cross-sector and interfaith efforts to foster a county where everyone can flourish.
We gather people and organizations interested in and/or already working around three different pillars:
- Building Community & a Caring Culture
- Deliberative / Participatory Democracy (by the people, with the people, for the people: We the People!)
- Well-being Economy (think B-corp, BLLCs, triple-bottom-line, etc.)
Events will include anything from book discussions, peacebuilding workshops/depolarization experiences, community service projects, block parties, and more
And many will be co-created by and with YOU.
We are not here to reinvent the wheel,
but to help different spokes in the
wheel working for a better America
cross-pollinate, collaborate, and involve more people.
Utah is a unique state, already leading in many ways through initiatives like Turn Toward, Utah Common Ground, and many others. We have been the state with highest rates of volunteerism more years than not. We have a culture that values faith and family (still two bedrock foundations of healthy communities), and a strong economy.
AND
We also have issues surrounding cost of living, housing and food insecurity challenges, and a need to weave together our communities with even more love and care, especially across sociopolitical divides.
Let's build bridges across our differences for a better Utah County!

"One community. One conversation. One powerful story of rebuilding, resilience, and the enduring power of dialogue."All community members are invited to attend a free screening of "9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero," a powerful documentary that explores the story behind the rebuilding of Ground Zero and the people who came together in the wake of tragedy to shape a shared future.
This is a story about how 5,000 people came together at the grassroots level to deliberate about what the future of Ground Zero was going to be after 9/11. Imagine if we can repliacte this kind of community deliberation and engagement around other issues in our local communities!
This is a story about how people with diverse backgrounds and points of view can work together for a better future.
Following the screening, there will be an opportunity to discuss co-creating communities where peacebuilding, listening to diverse viewpoints, and working together are prioritized. When we come together with that kind of respect, we are more likely to solve the vexing problems that impact our communities.
This event welcomes all community members.
