Tiles & Tea — A mahjong circle for women of color — beginners welcome.

I started Tiles & Tea because I'm learning to play mahjong, but I hadn't found a table that felt like mine. Open plays can be intimidating if you're new, and I wanted something different: a small, warm group where women of color can learn, play, and just be — no pressure, no gatekeeping.

What to expect

A relaxed, low-pressure table — this is a social space first, competitive mahjong second (or third)
Genuinely beginner-friendly — you're exactly who this is for
A small group by design. We're starting intentionally and growing slowly, aiming for a solid, familiar table of regulars over time. This is strictly social play, not a league, so we'll go as slow as needed — you just need to know the rules of the game. Don't know the rules? Take a few lessons first — it's fun.

Right now, we're forming. No fixed schedule yet — I'm gauging interest before locking in a first date and location. Join the group or send a message if you're curious, even if you're not sure you can commit yet.

Come as you are. Tea's optional. Spilling it is not.
