The Least Authority File System (Tahoe) is a capabilities based, secure, distributed, file storage system:

https://tahoe-lafs.org/trac/tahoe-lafs

At this meetup we'll tinker with its integration with the Tails anonymity-preserving operating system: https://tails.boum.org/

In particular we'll looks at operational security practices for Tails-and-Tahoe that permit cloud-only secure storage for travel. This pattern allows people to travel in repressive environments without any physical data storage devices, and yet still retain access to their cloud-stored, encrypred data.

These technologies are particularly important for activists, seeking to establish individual-liberty respecting institutions in oppressive states (e.g. China, Russia, Syria).

We'll also setup up some volunteer servers to support the tahoe project by providing continuous integration testing, using Buildbot:

http://buildbot.net/

(created by Tahoe engineer Brian Warner)

If you're interested in hacking the modern security environment, or helping "The Little Guy" in the face of oppressive police states, then this is the Meetup for you!
