Introduction to Oxy Acetylene Welding

This workshop will cover the basics of equipment, weld preparation, and basic techniques for light oxyacetylene welding. Each participant will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience to practice and evaluate the ability to make quality welds for lightweight applications.

Participation is limited to 5 participants. We will offer more workshops on a regular basis to maximize the hands-on opportunities in each workshop.

Participants must bring the following:

• Wear all natural fiber clothing (cotton, linen, etc). This is important!

• Long sleeve shirt

• Leather or cotton footwear.

• A pair of #5 welding shades (available at Murdoch's on Main, or some nice ones are available for 10-12 dollars at Wagner Welding supply on Boston Ave.

Gloves will be provided.

Participants are encouraged to bring small projects or items needing repairing (steel only). Examples are garden implements or lamps.

Scrap pieces will be provided, as well as some other tools to examine the welds.

Workshop cost for non-members: $25 plus $10 for materials.

Workshop cost for TinkerMill Members: Free & $10 for materials.
