Pierce County Tiny Home Community Meetup
This Meetup is a community for people to come together to learn about tiny home building, tiny house investing, minimalism, share about micro-housing, discussions about homelessness, creative real estate, passive income investments in the tiny home arena and much more. Members can volunteer their time to help each other design and construct tiny houses, gaining valuable knowledge and practical experience in the process. Founded by Todd KM of True Tiny Homes, LLC (Puyallup, WA) we are striving toward helping people daily achieve financial, emotional and spiritual wellness. Todd is working on investments in an RV park to turn into a tiny home community as well as 3 other properties in the NW. In 1940 Doris Janzen Longacre said, “The trouble with simple living is that, though it can be joyful, rich, and creative, it isn’t simple.” We agree. 1828 Leo Tolstoy said, “There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness, and truth.” boy was he correct. Sometimes we also get together just to talk tiny and meet each other. Topics of interest might include budgeting, rain catchment, managing humanure, solar power, alternative building methods like cob, building with recycled materials, and much more. We think you'll find it's inspiring and energizing to befriend and network with other passionate tiny house enthusiasts! Anyone can join and attend a Meetup or schedule their own event, so don't be shy whether you need help making your tiny house dream a reality, or just want to dip in a toe to see what's what. Come participate! You're among friends. Changing Pierce County Law/CODE: PALS - Tiny Homes (CODE WE ARE WORKING TO CHANGE) 1.Does Pierce County allow Tiny Homes? Yes, Pierce County does allow Tiny Homes. (LIES) 2.What are the permit requirements? • If the Tiny Home (typically less than 400 square feet, usually built on a trailer) is going to be placed permanently on a lot and intended for housing, applicable codes and permits would be same as any other home. ( SO TINY HOMES ARE NOT ALLOWED) • If the Tiny Home is going to be used for temporary housing, located on the lot for fewer than 120 days per year, we would require the same permits as we do for temporary placement on an RV (recreational vehicle). • If multiple Tiny Homes are proposed on one lot, permitting would be the same as an RV park if temporary (fewer than 120 days), and the same as a mobile home park if intended for permanent housing. • Some of the Tiny Homes that are shown on tv or websites might not meet the international Building Code and therefore might not be permittable as a permanent residence in Pierce County. http://www.co.pierce.wa.us/FAQ.aspx?TID=170 What are the permit requirements? • If the Tiny Home (typically less than 400 square feet, usually built on a trailer) is going to be placed permanently on a lot and intended for housing, applicable codes and permits would be same as any other home. • If the Tiny Home is going to be used for temporary housing, located on the lot for fewer than 120 days per year, we would require the same permits as we do for temporary placement on an RV (recreational vehicle). • If multiple Tiny Homes are proposed on one lot, permitting would be the same as an RV park if temporary (fewer than 120 days), and the same as a mobile home park if intended for permanent housing. • Some of the Tiny Homes that are shown on tv or websites might not meet the international Building Code and therefore might not be permittable as a permanent residence in Pierce County. http://www.co.pierce.wa.us/faq.aspx?qid=1308 This group was founded by Todd M.
