About us
Welcome to the Tokyo Gaming Discussion Club (TGDC)—something akin to a book club, where gaming fans spread across the 23 wards of Tokyo and Kanto beyond can come together to discuss what they’ve been playing and share their passion for it. The hope for the club is to bring together all corners of gaming fandom—whether you make games, write, read, or simply enjoy playing them, but with at least some hot takes on what you’re playing—to have a freewheeling conversation and hang out for a few hours every few weekends. Conversations will likely be held in English but Japanese speakers are more than welcome to join as we should be able to accommodate translation with multilingual speakers.

TGDC16 Announced: Nov 15th, 3:30pm
Italian Tomato Caffè Vigore - Komaba, the University of Tokyo, Japan, 〒153-0041 Tokyo, Meguro City, Komaba, 3-chōme−8−1 東大駒場コミュニケーションプラザ 1F, Meguro City, JPPull up a seat at Tokyo Gaming Discussion Club, Meetup Tokyo's (and all of Japan's…for this exact moment in time) only drop-in gaming monthly discussion club!
Sorry to skip out on October 🎃 but we'll be back in November to awaken TGDC from its autumnal slumber with conversations about our top gaming moments, the games we’ve been playing, or wherever the dialogue choices take us. And an early table-setting of discussing amongst the group our GOTY/Top 10s conversation, although, that one game won't be out by the 15th but alas. There's always next month folks!
So get ready for Tokyo Gaming Discussion Club Session 16, hereafter known as TGDC16, for another round of freewheeling gaming conversation.
How TGDC works is you can have the chance to drop in and share what you’re playing, any thoughts about gaming, and even if you don’t really play games but are swooned by the ethereal nature of them in the zeitgeist, you’re welcome to contribute all the same too.Basically TGDC is your favorite gaming podcast, except instead of listening, you yourselves get to be the hosts of it for two hours. And no unskippable ads for premade cooking kits!
The club has only two rules:
1. Any level or background interest in gaming is more than enough to be a club member. Well, I guess that’s not really a rule is it?
2. Ok, this is more rule zone. Please be respectful of each other and help each other feel welcome. By now many attendees are recurring but make sure to make room for the first-time attending, so that they can feel at the ready to jump into the high-speed conversations too.
Now onto:
How to attend (please read this very carefully so you don’t miss our next session!!)
The Tokyo Gaming Discussion Club will meet at exactly 3:30pm right in the inside entrance of Italian Tomato Caffè Vigore, Komaba, the University of Tokyo. I’ll (host) try to get there 10 minutes or so early so you can see me right there to know you’re in the right place for the right thing.
I will be holding a laminated sign of our lovingly human made (non-AI-generated) logo to find me/us in the cafe.
Once we gather in front of the cafe at 3:30pm, we will either meet at the cafe or go to another backup location on campus with caffeinated drinks and sweets in hand to guarantee 10+ person side-by-side seating, so please gather by my held sign (and self) so we don’t get separated when we head off to our finalized roundtable!
Apologies again that if you arrive after 3:30pm you may miss our month’s session, as my focus as host will be on holding our session once we begin.
If all this sounds good to you, hope to see you on November 15th!Also, TGDC16 is free to attend but an RSVP is required to be seated. Post-attending reviews are highly appreciated as well to help the club grow and increase visibility.
For any questions feel free to write a comment into the event's page or on our Discord.
Thanks and hope you can join in!
